I-Comm, the Integrated Communications Club, is a unique student organization that enables University of Louisville students to explore the wide range of professional communication that stands as the hallmark of the department's professional preparation.
As members of I-Comm, U of L students have the opportunity to interface with two of the nation's prominent communication organizations, the International Association of Business Communicators and the American Advertising Federation. UofL students can attend both organizations' professional meetings and training sessions, access their job and internship banks, and network with professionals from the wide variety of communication professions the two groups represent. The dual affiliation also gives students the opportunity to compete for regional and national scholarships as well as the recognition programs both groups offer.
In addition to participating in the practitioners' programs, I-Comm sponsors its own monthly presentations on various communication-related topics. Students gain perspectives from professionals on all aspects of the communication field, from advertising and public relations to First Amendment issues, alternative types of media and audience research.
Professor William Thompson sponsors this organization. Please contact him for more information.
Promotional Portfolio Contest
I-Comm and Lamba Pi Eta invite promotional communication portfolios produced by University of Louisville undergraduate students to be judged in competition for an award during the 2007 University of Louisville Communication Weekend. This competition, to be held on Saturday, April 14, 2007, welcomes portfolios containing work in both public relations and/or advertising areas that were developed in school, internship, or professional contexts.
