Forward Radio is a grassroots, volunteer-powered, listener-supported community radio station that has been broadcasting 24 hours a day since April 2017 to Louisville at 106.5fm and live-streaming and podcasting online at http://forwardradio.org. Forward Radio began operating as an educational arm of the Louisville Chapter of the Fellowship of Reconciliation (FOR) in pursuit of peace and social justice. Through training and collaboration, Forward Radio seeks to create a network of community partners to aid in building a more diverse and locally relevant media. We seek student interns motivated to help us in this mission through any of the following possible duties – interns may choose any projects that interest them and will be paired with a mentor at the station: • Access Hour producer to book guests and engineer production of weekly program for community voices; • Outreach specialist to help us find underwriters, organizational partners, and potential new programmers (especially among youth and marginalized communities that don't have access to broadcast media); • Local programmer to develop and produce weekly radio shows; • Production assistant to help local programmers with booking guests, audio engineering, field recording, and editing; • Photographer and videographer for the station; • Audio engineer to assist programmers with production; • E-newsletter editor; • Events coordinator; • Citizen journalist to produce local reporting and investigative pieces for broadcast; • Webmaster for forwardradio.org; or • Social media manager for the station.
