UofL Office of Student Involvement
Videography Intern: this internship will provide the student the opportunity to script, film and edit short information and educational videos for the department and its specific programs. Our goal is to have at least one video fully produced by the end of the internship. The intern will work with us closely to write the content, select video format and coordinate filming and editing schedules. We will create projects both appropriate to the interests of the intern and the needs of our department. Possible projects include but are not limited to: promotional videos and educational videos for educational purposes.

Advertising, Marketing/Sales Department Internship: This student will work closely with our sales executives on creating proposals for our advertising clients; compiling ratings research data, and hands on involvement with planning for special marketing projects. The aim of the WLKY-TV internship is to expose the student to the daily demands and challenges of a commercial broadcasting operation and to provide as much "hands on" opportunity as possible. All interns are expected and encouraged to learn about all aspects of broadcast sales and advertising. We have compiled a list of objectives for our interns including a basic understanding of industry research; Nielsen ratings, Scarborough qualitative data and training related software for developing reports. The selected intern will also acquire the basic production techniques used in the development of television commercials and internet ads. The interns will have the opportunity to shadow production personnel while shooting & editing a commercial. The student will also assist with sales promotions including contests on WLKY.com and the stations Facebook page. The internship will begin with a full tour of the station facility and major departments and the intern will have the chance to sit in on a live news broadcast. We are a non-profit that cares for the frail and elderly. We are an alternative for caring for seniors with Alzheimer's, dementia or some type illness that prevents them to be left at home alone. We have serviced Henry, Tremble and Oldham county for over 40 years. Since we are non-profit we do not have the tools or finances to be able to market our services and would love your suggestion and possible assistance in this area. Our desire is to have a video presentation that will be used as we go into the community with the possibility of also being shown on local access TV, channel 25. We feel it is important to educate the community as to: Who we are, what we do, how we do it and why we do it.
