Why Consider the UofL Malcolm X Debate Program?

    Travel Extensively

Atlanta, Los Angeles, New York, Boston, Miami, are just a few places where UofL competes. Of course it's not all big city life, as the Cards visit Winston-Salem, Carrollton, Georgia, and of course, Lexington, KY.

    Networking Opportunities

The intercollegiate debate community is home to the nation's top future politicians, lawyers, and activists. You will compete against the best and brightest from the Ivy League, Big Ten, and other prestigious institutions around the country. Our students have met and dialogued with renown scholars like: Cornel West; Randall Robinson, Angela Davis, and Peggy McIntosh.

    Competitive Success

Louisville debaters are nationally successful. We emphasize squad success, not just the individual.

    Activist Training

Participate in a program that trains students in social advocacy.

    Develop Leadership Skills:
    • Improve critical thinking skills
    • Improve creativity and cultural sensitivity in the presentation of ideas
    • Improve research skills
    • Present thoughts in cogent, organized manner
    • Master public speaking skills
    • Increase self-esteem and cultural awareness
