    2007-2008 Season Prospectus

The UofL Debate Society will continue its success as it steps into the 2007-2008 academic year with five returning debaters: Brian Huot, Aaron Price, Ebony Rose, Jason Walker and Rosie Washington. Joining the team this year will also be one first year freshman — Angie White.

The 2007-2008 debate topic will center on arguments that the United States Federal Government should increase its constructive engagement, which should include offering them a security guarantee(s) and/or a substantial increase in foreign assistance, with the government of one or more of the following:

      1) Afghanistan

      2) Iran

      3) Lebanon

      4) Palestinian Authority

      5) Syria

The teams will be traveling several times during the next two semesters to tournaments throughout the nation, where we will compete against several top universities including Emory, Dartmouth, Harvard and Northwestern. We will begin our season at Georgia State on September 22nd, so keep an eye out for those tournament results.

Finally, our continuous efforts to change the face of debate have brought us great success as well as many challenges. After attending our annual retreat two weeks ago, we all anticipate the challenges that this coming season will bring. We also plan to take our success with us as we expect it to flourish during the Fall 2007 season, during which we will continue our efforts to expand the diversity of the debate community.
